You have to go to work, wash the dishes, make dinner, do the laundry, take care of the baby… and hang out with your husband? Finding time with your man while adjusting to parenthood seems like mission impossible, but it can be done!

finding time for each other

Make a schedule

The key to finding time with your husband while taking care of a newborn is to make a schedule. The schedule is not only great for baby but for mommy too. If you can get the little one down at 8:30 pm every night, plan an hour for you and the hubby… even if it's just some snuggles on the couch. Want to take it to the next level? Allow no baby talk. Remember what you talked about or did at night before baby and make it happen. Having that time to re-connect will make you feel a little less stressed and enjoy the man you fell in love with.

The small things

Make the small things and the little moments between you and your husband count. Sneak in a kiss when the baby is happy in the bouncer, hug your man when he comes home from work or slide your hand across his chest as you pass each other in the hallway. Two minutes here and there will add up before the end of the day and make you feel like you had more time together than you actually did. Another idea -- do what you need to do, together! Do laundry, jump in the shower or do the dishes. Approaching parenthood as a team will help you both feel like you are on the same page with tackling your newest addition.

Ask for help

You may feel guilt when leaving your baby for a date out with your man but think of the benefits! Not only will you get a much deserved break, and some quality husband and wife time, but you will also have a higher appreciation for the time that you spend with your baby once you get home. Family is there to help you and probably have already offered you assistance, so take them up on it. Plus, they probably love baby as much as you do! If you don't have family around, have a swap night with some of your friends that have kids. It will allow you to have a date night and another night to stay in with some kids that you can give back at the end.
